Questions, answered
What is Convocept?
Convocept is a free comment system for WordPress. It replaces your theme’s comment section with a modern, server-rendered thread that loads no JavaScript until readers reach it, and adds reply subscriptions, upvotes, pinned comments and moderation tools. Comments stay in the standard WordPress database.
Is Convocept free?
Yes. The core plugin is free and GPL-licensed on WordPress.org, and complete for any single site: no locked features and no upgrade teasers. Optional paid add-ons for things like AI moderation and digests are in development.
Will it work with my theme and caching?
Convocept works with classic and block themes, and its templates can be overridden from your theme. It is page-cache safe: cached HTML contains no per-user data, and anything personal loads lazily over the REST API. It needs WordPress 6.5+ and PHP 7.4+.
Can I move from Disqus?
Yes. The built-in importer reads the Disqus XML export into native WordPress comments, keeping threading, authors and dates. It has been tested with 100,000 comments, and runs in batches or through WP-CLI.
What happens to my comments if I uninstall?
Nothing. They are ordinary WordPress comments and stay where they are. Your theme’s default comment section simply takes over again.
