Convocept vs wpDiscuz

wpDiscuz and Convocept both store comments in WordPress. The difference is weight and scope: Convocept renders on the server, loads nothing until the thread is near, and keeps the free core complete.

What changes when you move from wpDiscuz

01

Page weight

A large feature set means large scripts and styles. Convocept keeps interaction JavaScript under 8 KB and loads it only when readers reach the comments.

02

Add-on sprawl

Common features in wpDiscuz are sold as separate add-ons. Convocept’s free core covers subscriptions, voting, moderation tools and structured data.

03

Security first

Convocept is built around a strict security checklist: capability checks, nonces and escaping on every endpoint, with no unauthenticated write paths beyond posting a comment.

Convocept vs wpDiscuz: questions

Do I need to migrate my comments?

No. wpDiscuz stores comments in the standard WordPress table, and so does Convocept. Activate Convocept and your existing comments show in the new thread.

What about votes and subscribers?

wpDiscuz keeps these in its own tables. The importer that carries them over ships in Convocept 1.1.
